Wei's In The Community

Wei's has been a part of the community since 1956. We're going through our archives and we'll post pics of the community events and groups and rodeo stars we've been involved with over the decades. It's been a pleasure to help make our community more vibrant, more connected and a better place to live.

What's the Best Western Store?

In a world of constant change, it's nice to know that some things remain the same. For the umpteenth time, (we've lost count, but it's more than 20) Wei's Western Wear wins the Best of Red Deer Reader's Choice Award for Best Western store.

2023 Bowden Pro Rodeo Queen

In their quest to become the Bowden Rodeo Queen, young women perform several tasks including dress up for a Western fashion show. Wei's is glad to sponsor the event.

Westerner Days

Wei's has participated in Red Deer's annual Western celebration for decades. It's one of the best western traditions in Canada. Wei's has been in the parade, we've sponsored riders of all sorts, and of course we've attended. It's Rodeo Time!

Vancouver Film Crew Visits Red Deer Landmark

We were surprised and delighted when a film crew from Vancouver came to Red Deer for their production in December 2021. Their contact suggested they come to a local landmark, Wei's downtown store. Black Rhino Creative added an interview to their project. We can't wait to see ourselves on the silver screen!

Red Deer Firefighter's Calendar

These courageous firefighters came by the Downtown store to say "Thank You" for helping to sponsor their 2022 Calendar, which raises charitable funds. We had to get them posed with their favourite cowboy boots and cowboy hats. Thanks guys!

Best of Red Deer 2021

We never get tired of receiving this award. We're grateful to the customers who have just discovered us and come in for the first time, and we're grateful for the customers who first came here with their parents 40 years ago, and keep us as a warm tradition in their lives. Thanks everyone for voting Wei's the best. We are always trying to improve for our customers.

Best of Red Deer 2000

Red Deer was home to the Red Deer Express newspaper, and Wei's won their Reader's Choice Award for Best Western store way back in the year 2000 (and in many other years). We're proud to have served Alberta's Western wear lovers for so long. Yep, we've gotta say it - "Yee-haw!"

1995 PBR World Champion Bull Rider Tuff Hedeman

Tuff Hedeman is one of the most recognized bull riders in the world, and was featured in the movie 8 Seconds.

He made a splash when he visited Wei's Western Wear to check out Wei's selection of Panhandle Slim cowboy boots. We don't have a picture of his visit, but he said Wei's is "my kind of store" and did give us a signed poster :-)

Cody Snyder at Wei's, 1983?

In 1983, Cody Snyder, a native of Redcliff, AB was the first Canadian to be crowned the PRCA World Champion Bull Rider in Oklahoma City.

In this picture at the store, Cody looks pretty fresh-faced so we're guessing it was taken around that time. Our founders Wei and Moon are there too, everyone holding a Cody Snyder boot, made by Boulet.
